ABOUT BATTLE FOR HOPE

The Heather Ridley-Fleeman Battle for Hope is a run/walk event held the first Saturday in May each year at the Old Tiger Stadium in Bentonville. The event began in 2005 as a way to honor the life of Heather Ridley-Fleeman and raise awareness of colon cancer. Heather died in 2004 at the young age of 28 after a long battle with colon cancer.

The following year, a close group of Heather's family and friends partnered with Hope Cancer Resources to help make sure other cancer patients have access to the care they need during treatment and to educate individuals that early detection does save lives.

During her life, Heather was a member of the Walmart supplier community. She was also dedicated to supporting agencies that work to help cancer patients through treatments and make state-of-the-art cancer research locally accessible.

By participating in Battle for Hope, you can help Hope Cancer Resources continue the mission of providing cancer support and education to cancer patients in Northwest Arkansas. Register online today. All proceeds from Battle for Hope go directly to Hope Cancer Resources. Individual runners and walkers, as well as teams are encouraged to participate. Sponsorships are available as well.

ABOUT HOPE CANCER RESOURCES

The mission of Hope Cancer Resources is to provide compassionate, professional cancer support and education in the Northwest Arkansas region today and tomorrow. Our vision is to provide hope and enhance the quality of life by expanding prevention, wellness, and comprehensive cancer support services in our region.

Hope Cancer Resources employs a highly professional staff that includes licensed oncology social workers, and two certified tobacco treatment specialists, one of whom is also a certified cancer exercise specialist. We provide transportation to take patients to every cancer treatment as needed as well as education to help a patient during and after their treatment. Financial assistance is provided for prescription medications, nutritional supplements, dental care, gas cards, as well as everyday living expenses to alleviate some of the financial stress a patient and their family may face.

Believing emotional support is essential for healthy survivorship, we offer counseling services ranging from a kind word or listening ear to one-on-one, couples, or family counseling sessions with a licensed mental health professional. Hope Cancer Resources also provides emotional support in group settings.

In addition, Hope Cancer Resources will impact the community by providing cancer prevention education that includes sun and UV safety, tobacco prevention and cessation, and healthy lifestyle behaviors to lower cancer risk.
Our Wellness Center for Hope provides a safe space for patients and caregivers to enhance their quality of life by restoring physical activity, optimizing nutrition and healthy weight, and developing healthy behaviors and lifestyles.

The services of Hope Cancer Resources are provided at no cost.
